In the last post I talked about the importance of keyword research. If you really break it down, your success relies on the keywords you chose for your strategy. If you pick the wrong keywords and keyword phrases, you risk the chance of bringing in the right traffic. The long tail and short tail keywords that you pick, is what you’ll build the rest of your content marketing SEO strategy around.
Your blog is one of the most important aspects of your content marketing SEO strategy for a few reasons. A solid blog strategy will help you increase your rankings by itself. But a solid blog strategy combined with social media, landing pages and content optimization and you will do a lot better. Here are the four most important reasons that blogging will help you increase your rankings.
4 Reasons Blogging Should Be A Part Of Your Content Marketing SEO Strategy
1. Blogging helps you increase your content and webpages on your site.
The more webpages you have, the more doors you have to your online home. Think of each page as its own landing page. A new entry. A new way in. And it’s likely that the visitors found you through a targeted search from one of your long tail keywords that you are targeting. We like that. That’s a good thing! Google likes sites with a lot of pages too. It shows that your website is valuable.
2. Blogging helps you increase the amount of keyword phrases found throughout your site.
The more blog posts you write, the more keywords you’ll find throughout your website. This is obviously an important factor of this content marketing SEO strategy. Your blog posts should be keyword rich but not overly optimized. If your blog is relevant then it makes sense that naturally those keywords will appear throughout your writing.
3. Blogging helps you rank for images.
Each blog post you write should include an image. Guess what, images if optimized correctly are great for SEO. Images show up in search and they allow you to target specific keywords which is also a win. You see how important those keywords are. Here are a few more reasons to take your images very seriously.
4. Blogging helps you earn more links back to your site.
This is the most important benefit of your blog strategy in relationship to your SEO strategy. The best way to increase your rankings is to be linked to. Each blog post is a new opportunity to be linked to. If you create great content and do your networking you’ll find that more people will start linking to it. The more links you earn the higher up you’ll sit on that search. It should be your goal. If you need more tips on how to get more people to link back to your site read this post and this post.
How much should you be blogging for SEO?
As often as possible. At the very least you need to be blogging once a week. The more you blog, the better you are. If you can create a post three times a week you are in good hands. If you can’t, it’s time to consider hiring a content company to help you.
Alright, keyword research – check. Blogging – check. Now it’s time to see how social media plays a role in your SEO strategy.
