Why Niche Sites MatterIt’s likely that you have heard me say, “I’d rather have a 100 super targeted followers than 1,000 uninterested lingerers.” It’s true. To me social media is about connect with the RIGHT audience at the RIGHT time with the RIGHT message.

Engagement comes from people who are listening. The more targeted they are and the more they resonate with your message, the more likely they are to act upon your message. Plus engagement breeds engagement. If your fans are getting in on the action, their friends will get in on the action too. We love this type of ripple effect.

I don’t seem to be far off in my thinking either. According to a recent report by Zuum Social the brands that had the most Instagram engagement were the brands that had the least amount of followers from the group. To me this says they had more targeted followers and super fans.

Niche sites is where the action is. It’s where super targeted people hang out and communicate with other super targeted fans. If you are interested in gardening you are going to have better conversations with those in your garden club meetings than you would with someone who may like flowers but not really gardening. The same thing applies online. When you get a group of people together who all care about the same thing passionately they are going to have more conversations about the topic.

From a marketing standpoint these conversations are gold. You need to find those people who are communicating with other like-minded individuals in a undistracted manner. Niche sites are where you can find that. Plus when you market your products and services on niche sites you know what you are going to get. You know who is on the site. You have a much better bang for your buck than on a network like Facebook where people like tons of sites and you have no way of gauging how active or interested someone is in a certain topic.

I predict that niche sites are going to become more popular in the coming years. As social media users, we want to connect with people more intimately. We want to communicate without distractions. Niche sites provide this type of enviornment.
