Jaguar is currently hosting a contest to give you the opportunity to test drive their new #FTYPE. As you know, I love contests and I talk often on this blog about the value of hosting social contests. When I came across this contest, I was interested for a few reasons.
One such reason is purely selfish. I really want to test drive the F Type. My grandma had one when I was growing up and I always thought it was the coolest car ever. She told me that I could have it one day because my tushy fit perfectly in it. She was awesome. A Jag driving grandma. Come on, it doesn’t get much cooler than that. On that note alone, I entered as I do a lot of contests. (Purely for research purposes, of course. Haha.)
The other reason I experienced a spark of interest in this contest is because of the amount of social media sites they’re using throughout the campaign. The contest was first brought to my attention because they are promoting it on Twitter. I usually don’t click through promoted links, but because this one hit my heart, I clicked through. They caught me -their target audience.
When you click through to the site it redirects you to a Facebook app. In 2 quick seconds, I was introduced to their Twitter account (which I am now following) and their Facebook page (which I am now a fan of).
Now, for the entry. To enter you must post to Twitter, Instagram or Vine. Yes, even Vine. This allows people to enter in their preferred network, which is always a good idea. And, of course, you have to use hashtags. I did a quick search on the hashtags and it looks like it’s a very promising contest. 325 people have entered the contest via Instagram. And there are tons of entries on Twitter.
Lastly, upon entering, you’re redirected to their website where you can view the F Type in depth, and schedule a test drive at your local Jaguar dealership. That’s lead generation, folks.
This contest is a win. I am now more aware of the brand, their new product, as well as that they are socially active.
You might be thinking that, it’s Jaguar and they have a huge budget for things like this. Yes, this is true. However, there are a lot of lessons a small business can learn here, and hopefully you can take something and bring it to your brand at a smaller cost. A Vine contest perhaps.
On a final note, when I was redirected to the Jaguar site, the models driving in all the photos were men. Umm, if this isn’t reason enough that it’s #MyTurntoJag, I don’t know what is.
